this was a challenging read. dense and term-heavy i caught a few of the references but felt that it would be better enjoyed by a real gamer. regardless, this was incredibly well written, with nuanced characters and struggles. it wasn’t what i was expecting, and maybe that was for the better?
SPOILERS
it presents itself as an incredibly slow burning romance between sadie and sam and ultimately results in.. not that? slow burning friendship (?) i enjoyed the acknowledgement that not all love is romantic and that there are things more important than romance, but still found the change in tone resulting from marx’s death to be really hard to read. it felt like the plot derailed a little bit, emphasizing the need for that third person in sadie/sam’s relationship, especially marx. feeling conflicted over this. bumping it a bit bc im realizing how conflicted i really feel lol

I had no idea what to expect when I decided to get Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow on my Libby app. Honestly, had I known it was about video game producers I may have skipped it. But I can say that I am so happy that I read this book.

It was the perfect combination of smart, emotional and uplifting. The characters are flawed but whole, their lives are complicated as are their relationships. The shifting timeline was done flawlessly. It felt like no time was passing at all because I was so wholly immersed in the experience.

I can’t see what the flaws are… I wish there was maybe a bit more change in their characters as time went on. I understand Sam was unchangeable and that Sadie was complicated and dont get me wrong, I love full circle moments, but there was just maybe something slightly lacking that makes it a 4.5 rather than a 5.

Honestly an amazing book and I will recommend it to so many people!

I really enjoyed reading this. I have heard people say this book is too woke and what I say to that is the book is about you. The extreme version of your thoughts in action are represented in this book so make some queer friends , play some queer video game, listen to diverse and lgbtqia+ stories or stfu. That being said both lead characters PPPPPIIIIISSSSED me off at many moments!! COMUNUCATION PEOPLE!!! But that’s what made it good! The characters aren’t loveable, there over-intellectual dick-heads sometimes but people like that exist. Solid read!

Some scenes were a  bit too close to my own near death experience. I got a good cry then didn’t need to finish the book.

This book made me feel SO MANY FEELINGS. Some happy, some sad, some furious, some distraught. But that’s what makes a good book. The writing was incredible, thoughtful and thought provoking. Just amazingly creative and clever.
Yes there were plenty of toxic elements to the many relationships in this but navigating those is also a part of life. They were authentically human and both Sam and Sadie made mistakes. I don’t like that she still meets up with dov in the end but just goes to show the long lasting effects that (TW) grooming and manipulation can have on a person. This overall was a realistic, messy, heart wrenching, heart warming story about human connection and love. What else is there?
The NPC has my heart.

This review was written and book was read prior to learning about xenophobic author.
