Read it alongside this audiobook I found on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5GQPLeJJna8 The emotion in this play is so raw; I teared up more than once. The story of an exhausted and desperate African-American family in the post WWII era who have everything against them but refuse to give up on their hopes and dreams.

I found it a surprisingly great book. I usually don't like reading plays, nor do I usually enjoy reading american literature, but this was an exception. I found I really loved reading it and especially the ending. I think this is as important as is suggested. Lots of great lines and was surprisingly funny yet had it's strongly powerfully written scenes that make you feel.

This was probably one of the books they were talking about in American Fiction.

P.S. Best read with the audiobook.

Reread this for the first time since high school. Definitely appreciated it much better as an adult
