I *mostly* enjoyed this one. It was a very sweet and endearing romance with good subplot and the right dose of angst and tension, and I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. But something didn’t sit quite right, and I can’t put my finger on it — I was just slightly bored in places, and sometimes the characters didn’t feel entirely real. There was just something missing that prevented it from being a perfect read for me, but nothing so bad that I didn’t enjoy this book!

Intense

There is only one word to describe this story- Intense. The narration is engrossing and entertaining. The best part is Mike's back story that amplifies the beauty of this book.

I really enjoy Lucy Lennox's work, so I figured I could see my way through a book about football. It was surprisingly easy, though I still think it's a stupid sport and I couldn't be bothered to care about it. ANYWAY. I felt so bad for Mikey--so much about his family was painfully familiar to me. Tiller, of course, was a sweetheart. And I'm head over heels for the folks in Aster Valley already.

re-read: not my fave of the Aster Valley books but a great intro to the series nonetheless.

An enjoyable start to a new series.
Tiller was a cinnamon bun and Mikey was also precious.

Another great addition to the Aster Valley series. The story of Mikey and Tiller is one of friends to lovers that grows over time and you can't help but cheer them on as a reader. The sexy time at first is a slow burn but it gets hot over the course of the book. The love between these two jumps off the pages and you never doubt their love as a reader. Would recommend :)

I loved how the relationship between Raine and Mikey came about and how during the first five years of their professional relationship, they grew to be closer than most people, but failed to recognize that they cared for each other more than a typical assistant/boss relationship. When something happens to Raine and they go away for a month, everything changes between them and I loved how they both developed as people and together. A great must read!!

Falls under: Jock/coach's son romance and boss/assistant romance tropes.
Angsty and fluffy with cameo appearance of characters from Winter Waites.
