Overall this was a good read. Light hearted and not too serious. I liked the relationship that was presented in the book. Although, the entire time I was reading this, I couldn’t help but think that Emily Henry likes to reuse tropes and it kind of made me think that she just writes the same book in different settings. Just my thoughts but doesn’t make it a bad book! But I probably won’t read another one of hers because of the repetition.

This was just as good as any Emily Henry for me-which is a good thing.  This probably comes in at #2 or #3 out of all her books.  The story begins with Daphne being dumped by her fiancé right before their wedding-for none other than his best friend, Petra.  This leads her to move in with Petra's ex, since they are both looking for roommates.  She soon learns a few things:  Miles is not who he appears to be, and Daphne isn't who she thought she was, either, because she had adapted herself to fit into her fiancé's world.  As usual, Emily Henry writes a sweet romance but also an emotional journey.  This one leans a little less on the romance than People We Meet on Vacation or Beach Read, and focuses a little more heavily on the other emotional aspects.

Cute book and exactly what I’ve come to expect from Emily Henry: bingeable romance with some kind of unique spin. The ending was predictable but in the good kind of way. And it was such a fun and quick read.

This was my first Emily Henry book and it definitely won’t be my last. I’d heard mixed reviews about this book but I just take that to mean her previous books are so universally loved.

Daphne and miles find themselves living together after their partners leave them for each other (they’ve been friends since childhood). Daphne and miles go from complete strangers to roommates to a fake relationship after they get an invite to their exes’ wedding. Mostly everyone is in on the fake dating plan except for their exes so the plot doesn’t heavily revolve around keeping their secret. Surprisingly, a lot of the plot revolved around family drama for both of the MCs and actually had me tearing up a few times. The book reminded me a lot of Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez in this way. Emily does a fantastic job of creating deeply fleshed out main and supporting characters. I loved the friendships Daphne formed.

I really enjoyed the book and can see myself rereading it. I only wish there had been more romance or maybe more of a slow burn; something felt missing from their love story. I felt like I had to deduct some points for the dreaded
third-act breakup. And honestly? I wished that they HAD gone through with the original plan and gone to Peter and Petra’s wedding together as a couple.

I listened to the audiobook as I read and I liked the narrator a lot but of course I wish they had hired a male narrator for duet narration! I understand why they didn’t since miles doesn’t get a pov.

This may not be at the top of my list of Emily Henry books, but I still found things in it that spoke to me off the page. I've never had a broken engagement, but I have not wanted to run into an ex boyfriend in the town we both grew up in. I've never had a roommate fall in love with me, but I've felt the exact same way Daphne did when she and Miles finally reconnected after the Read-A-Thon - that they didn't even need to say with but just waking together in silence for a while was the conversation they needed. The storyline of her work in the library was actually really charming! It made me think, well, maybe I want to be a librarian! I do think that I would have loved to see more of her storyline with her dad actually there, and how she navigated through that. I know that wouldn't have fit with the history of her dad, but would have been interesting to see how they interacted when they were together. It felt like it actually went pretty well when they came to visit. And her mom, who was such an important figure in her life, we really didn't get to see at all. All in all, a fun read, albeit one that I will forget after a while.

Actually finished this on the plane yesterday but was too tired to write my review.

I loved this one.

Miles and Daphne were so incredibly fun and dynamic and the banter was top notch. I loved how lighthearted and sweet the story was and it was just like a nice breath of fresh air. The side characters were super fun too, like Ashleigh was so snarky and Julia was really sweet. Peter and Petra can eat my shorts though. I hated them and was happy they didn’t get the happy ending.

Speaking of endings, I loved how in the end, Daphne was the one that got to tell their story.

I JUST LOVED THIS ONE, OK?!
