Highlander Surrender by Tracy Brogan.
This historical is base in around the time Jame V of Scotland and the huge battle for crown by other rivals.
Fiona is a Sinclair and her family has been at war with the Campbell's since the Lord of the clan killed Fiona's mother.
Myles is a King James supporter like his family and has been promised to Fiona since childhood to marry.
The King forces it and Fiona brothers agrees to the match.
At first they do not get on even though it is clear there is attraction there.
I love that Fiona is fierce and fight with her last breath even though it's a losing battle.
Great story totally sucked into conflict and drama but also the slow but lovely developing romance.
Listen to this as a audio book with an absolutely amazing narrator Sarah Coomes she is fabulous accents for both Scottish and French characters.
Loved ending and HEA

Forced to marry her sworn enemy, Fiona tries her hardest to make her husband hate her. She has been bred to believe the worst of the Campbell family and was now forced into becoming one.
Miles had his eye on a fine French girl when all of a sudden the King approves his arranged marriage to Fiona. He doesn't expect to like the vision that meets him.

I loved this book because you get a bit of everyone's point of view. It was funny, romantic, full of mischief and suspense.

The plot was fairly interesting and it was a fun way to pass the time. Wasn't cringey like a lot of the "highlands this-that-or-the-other-thing" books tend to be. Will be looking into what else this author has written.

Fiona is a heroine who really is not a heroine, but is indeed quite annoying. I understand that at the onset of the novel she is being forced into a marriage that she did not ask for. Okay, I get it, you can be upset. But she ends up married to a pretty swell guy and she continues to refuse to give him a chance. It just makes her frustrating because honestly, historically, she could have done a lot worse.

If you are seeking gorgeous highlander men though, you've come to the right place and won't be disappointed. Overall, a fun story that ends well, so I'm pleased.

I skipped way ahead just to see how it ended but not my favorite, I felt it was very drawn out. I could've also been in the mood for a different type of story but i don't think I'll read it in the future to find out.

The non romance conflict did not really come to fruition or have much bearing on the story until over 80% which would be fine I guess but wasn’t my favorite.

An interesting read

This was a good book. It plodded along and had a few twists and turns, which were good. I'd be interested to read a sequel if there was one.
