This read as fanfiction for large stretches. The best thing was that it fleshed out the world more.  But overall, I feel underwhelmed.

The perfect follow-up to 1984. The dystopian future of Oceania expanded and given more detail.
I’m hopeful of a sequel to this!

I read this ~2 weeks after finishing 1984 since I'd heard so many good things about it, but found it to be too similar to 1984 to really enjoy it much more. It was a solid book, up until the ending where it just went... weird. I get what they were doing, but it also just felt unnecessary. So many times it felt like the book could end and then it just went on, and went on, and went on.

Just finished this book and I am not sure what to think yet. I did like the perspective of Julia and what the world Orwell had created could look like for different people. However, it sometimes felt a bit slow and sex focused and on the nose in the dislike for Winstons character. I did like the writing after the meeting with Winston and O'Brien till the last meeting with Winston after Love. BUT THEN,
the part with the rebels felt more like a teaser than actual plot. It felt rushed, though I did like the quastionnaire part which lets you question the brotherhood as well.
All in all, still a bit confused.
