** My disclaimer. I read this book for a reading challenge. **

"Hey there, welcome to The Truth. How can I fix your b$*&?"

So, I don't like erotica. At all. I don't like M/M, F/M, F/F, any erotica. But, I'm going to put that aside and try to review this book from a story standpoint and ignore all the erotica.

I still found the story lacking. There was little plot. No, there was interesting information but nothing to pull it together. So many themes are left unexplained - I guess because it's a series and it's supposed to make me want to read more?

And the abuse was horrific. It was completely awful to read. I was equally appalled that in the room where Will was attacked, days after and while he's still healing and bleeding, he is open to having another sexual encounter. I found it deeply saddening - I think it's unrealistic for someone who suffered so much abuse. Will needs to work on himself - why is he seeking these completely awful relationships - before he jumps into another relationship...... I found the tie of abuse to BDSM disturbing as well. I don't think anyone in that community would want to tie what they do to the horrid things that happened to Will. All in all, I thought it was a bad example of what I assume is a very respectful genre. Just not my kind of book.

I loved this book, it was a great read and I can see myself reading it again in less than a year, maybe even a month.
The story is written very well and the descriptive language is on point.
The focus of the book was on the romance of Will and Cobalt of course, but added factors were both of their unlucky or unhappy love life before they met each other. The book touched on sensitive subjects such as abuse and how many times the victims don't even realize that it is abuse without somebody telling them. I liked that Will was not a walking stereotype and I bought into his being, meaning that he and Cobalt were both very well rounded characters, in a sense that they were believable. I coujld follow the process of the plot although the book was fast paced and their love didn't seem too head over heels. I could go on and on about the book if one let me, but to round this off, the book was a great read and definitely took my mind off some things. If you are looking for a world to submerge yourself in and enjoy fantasy and sensual writing this is the perfect book for you!

I'll give this a pretty lackluster 3 stars. It's not that there's anything really wrong with it, there's just nothing especially right with it either. It's competently written with a follow-able plot, but it's all pretty shallow. The villains are crazy-pants evil, just for the sake of evil. No discernible motive or even enough control over themselves to be a believable villains. The lust is instant and mutual, and the love comes rushing in right on it's heels with no real feeling of having developed. The paranormal elements are interesting, but not deeply developed, etc.

I did have a problem with the torture porn and sex though. One character is beat unconscious and raped and literally begging for sex by the next day. I think probably both the physical and mental trauma would come into play to prevent that. Plus, Will is just too stupid for words when it came to Lyle.

All in all, I don't regret reading this but I'm in no real hurry to read the next in the series either.

Fae!

Ya'll know I can't resist Fae stuff. And m\m romance to boot! Didn't take much to sell me. Really great story with good world building. Love Cobalt and Will. Dialogue a little stiff at times but not enough to mar the story. Second book is on my que.

The ending of is rather vague where police is concerned. But otherwise I loved the book!
