There were some poems that were impactful. Others left much to be desired.

This collection was not for me. However, I highly recommend heeding the author's advice and reading it aloud. It is there that one can appreciate the rhythm... the poetry... in this collection.

Black Queer Hoe will forever be a favorite poetry collection for me. It starts with a foreword by Danez Smith, and it is a chef’s kiss. It was the perfect forward, gearing me up in excitement to read the collection. I loved that Britteney included a tweet about the “slick mouth” men who have said disrespectful things to her, further validating her claims about these types of men. She came straight out of the gate swinging with her lyricism and I appreciate it. I will always appreciate the unapologetic, matter-of-fact lyricism of any creator. There were so many favorites in this collection, which is rare for me.
