Very dark, but very compelling. Probably wouldn’t read it again, because of the gore and violence, but I would still recommend it.

Really, really loved this! It wasn't just my recurring insomnia that meant I blitzed through this book in no time. So much happened without it ever feeling rushed or packed in; it really felt like we were getting into the meat of the story (as a vegan I don't love that expression, but here it just works), so much so that it almost made the first book feel like a prequel.

I loved the slow build of Nathan and Gabriel's developing bond and I was so glad
Celia came back into the story. Obviously she did awful things to Nathan, but I do find her a really interesting character to read
. I anticipated the twist but I was still excited for the new dynamic it caused between the main group of characters.

I am now very impatiently waiting for the final book to become available in my library!

I just finished this book and I might be biased because I'm still overwhelmed with emotions, but... This was something else! I liked the first book and I was curious if second will deliver the same amount of emotions, and oh, it did on a silver plate! Last few pages I read pacing around my room, because I couldn't sit still. I was gasping and exclaiming and could not possible believe that it's all happening.

The main reason this book hooked me was the main theme - where the good ends and evil begins. There is no boarders / lines between those too in this book. The is no black and white. There is this everlasting question of what is good, and what - evil?
Characters were complicated, layered. You could understand why they did what they did even if it was cruel, unexpected or unforgivable.

Must say, that this is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read, and yes, I have read LOR too.

When I found out that Gabriel was alive, I was very happy, because he is one of my favorite fiction characters EVER! Gabriel is a treasure. His loyalty is beyond me. His love, affection and courage is astounding. He deserves all the love and croissants there is!
