Amber Jamison has endured a lot in her life. The grifting lifestyle of her parents, abandonment by them as a teen, eventually turning her life around, so close to earning her degree. But finding herself abducted by a possible serial killer takes the cake.

Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon is a crazy ride from start to finish. Both funny and dark with wonderful companion characters, this was a really fun read with tension and action ramping up toward the end. I look forward to more antics from these characters in the next book of this series. 3.5/5 Stars

I was really really into the first half of this and then about halfway through it really lost me, not by doing anything bad so much as just kinda… meandering too much for my taste. I think there were a few kind of loose ends at the end that bugged me. Probably more like a 2.5 ⭐️ overall for me but I think this could really work for someone else!

wow ! this book was a blast and a half !
so entertaining, so funny, so mysterious and tense in all the right places
i knew about halfway through i was going to rate it 5stars

•characters:
i loved them all ! MC amber/emily was so relatable, funny, strong, smart, and savvy ! i loved the lgbtq+ rep
the relationship between her and serial killer hunter grace was very entertaining to read, and i enjoyed the way their personalities bounced off of each other
the other side characters, dot and marcella, added a perfect layer of loveable and flawed innocents, roped into the wildly dangerous adventures of the MC
i was very invested in the journey of all these characters

•plot:
chefs kiss ! kidnapped by a serial killer, amber is unexpectedly rescued by a masked vigilante, and winds up getting unintentionally involved in the ultimate game of sibling rivalry
all the twists and turns kept me questioning the motivations of everyone involved, all were morally ambiguous in their own way, and i ate up all the crazy schemes and plans they threw my way

•twists:
honestly, there was no huge twist at the end(which i normally prefer)
but, the story itself was so good, that the minor twists that occurred throughout were more than enough to keep me riveted from beginning to end

•mood/atmosphere:
very humorous, with hints of intensity sprinkled throughout
very mysterious, i found it hard to guess the motivations of each character and it left me second guessing everything throughout
really my only critique is that the imagery of las vegas scenery could have been a little more
i knew we were in vegas, because the characters kept saying they were in vegas, but other than that and a few descriptions of casinos and sex workers, it fell a little short for me personally

•themes:
hmmmm duality of twins ? commentary on the “value” of sex workers placed on them by society ? examples of the concept of morality being on a gray scale, rather than plain black and white ? take your pick, they’re all good ones, with more that im sure i missed

overall, i will definitely be revisiting this book, and buying a physical copy for my collection. i’m interested in checking out other works by this author as well !

Amber was able to get away from a serial killer, or did she?
LGBTQ+ humorous thriller? YES, PLEASE.
Witty, fast paced and truly entertaining.
I absolutely loved this book and I think it might be one of my faves of all time right now.
Cannot recommend it enough!
