A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas was somehow SO much better than ACOTAR. This book pulled out all the stops and I can definitely tell why this is most people’s favorite book in the series overall. I loved the way the characters developed and how the dynamics shifted. I think I deeply love every character in this series more with every page I turn. Even characters I should hate, I love to hate. I feel like the pacing is fantastic, there is spice and action, there is growth and healing, love and betrayals. This book is packed with so many great moments (and some of the series most famous lines). This is definitely my favorite book in the series so far, and I can’t wait to keep reading and see what else happens because I am completely on the edge of my seat! Make sure you have a copy of A Court of Wings and Ruin ready to crack open immediately after reading the last line of this one. I promise you won’t want to wait.

A true enemies-to-lovers arc, and so pleasing. Their natural scathing remarks turn fond, yet still sharp. After coming back to this series years later I really appreciate the ability to communicate that Feyre and Rhysand have. Although there are lies and betrayals, they talk and resolve the issue as adults deserving of immortality.
I absolutely adore Amren, Mor, Azriel and Cassian.

The ending made me put the book down and breathe through my anger, as somehow the expected failure of their scheme was so much worse than possibly imagined.

I am truly excited to see more of Elain, but particularly Nesta, and the unbreakable strength she seems to be made of.

While the story is good, I would not recommend this to anyone with sexual trauma or an abusive person in their life as this book will likely be very upsetting. Trigger warning: explicit sex scenes (several that can be skipped), abuse, torture, returning to abuser, sex work, assault is hinted at, PTSD, violence

An all-consuming rush of brilliant imagery, cunning battle and tense action, beautiful companionship, deliciously sexy and sweet romance. I was utterly entranced the entire 624 pages as Feyre continued her fight for her loved ones, her new friends, her soulmate, and her own beating human heart within a new immortal body.

I LOVE RHYSAND TO INFINITY AND BEYOND. What a magnificent creature. Maas crafts his heartbreaking story so flawlessly, intersecting purposefully with Feyre’s even from the first moment they met in the first book. I was blown away by every detail revealed.

Also… HE LETS HER BEJEWELED. IYKYK!!!

“But I was his mate. He would yield only for me.”

I can’t wait to see what happens next between the High Fae and the mortal realm as they go to swiftly into that dark night…
