Not really sure what to make of this book. It is weird as a stand alone story. It may be better if it's part of a bigger story, but it doesn't look like it is. It is different from other versions of Ultimate Hawkeye as well. There was a lot of build up of action and no payoff with it. Instead we got some mystical eternal mumbo-jumbo.

3,5 | Not a huge fan of the artwork, which kind of dampened my interest in the story up until the third part. Pretty average, I'd say. (12/12/2018)

2 | Yeah, the reread didn't do this any favors. I wanted to see if it was as bad as I remembered, and oh boy. The story is generic at best, and everyone is so lacking in personal characteristics, they feel like superhero placeholders. Thor could've filled in for Hulk without a hitch for all the difference it would make. I also straight up dislike this Hawkeye. There's nothing to him! He's just kind of there, even in the flashbacks - his only characteristic is that he's loyal to Fury.
The artwork is good, actually, especially the cenarios. But I'm still not a fan of the every-muscle-in-this-man's-body-casts-a-shadow style, so that's a no form me. (29/08/2020)

A solid Hawkeye adventure, this time our favourite archer is up against a group of super mutants called "The People". We also get some flashbacks to his backstory. According to this mythos, Hawkeye actually has super powers. His eyes see everything in high contrast and he's able to adjust the focal length of his vision. That's kinda cool. Although I'm not sure how I feel about him having super powers.

A quick read, but a good one.

And by saying that it was ok I'm being generous for once.

I love Clint Barton, ok. Even the Ultimates edition but it was torture to read this, that's how little care is put into everything. We're fighting against the group called the people, they have a serum called the serum and motives that are very motivated. Hawkeye, pls don't miss and put an arrow through my eye.

I rather enjoy the storylines Barton is set up to fail but he manages to pull it off in the end. I think I would have liked this comic set more if I hadn't already found Fraction's work. Fraction's Barton kind of spoils everyone else's for me. But I still can't resist a storyline where the much-sidelined archer ends up being the one between Captain America and a devastating personal attack.
