A great parody on the typical dragon stereotype. This came across as being very British. It reminded me of the story "Asterix in Britain", when the British stop fighting a battle because it's time to drink tea, being so gentlemanly as they are. Definitely a lighthearted, fun read.

This was a fun story about a boy who meets a dragon who is quite unlike all the dragons in the stories. Rather than going about setting fire to villages and killing people and stealing animals and such, this dragon is quite content to lay down and sleep when he's not telling his new friend a story.

But the village simply will not stand for having a dragon nearby. Something must be done about it. Mind you, they don't really care if the dragon is killed, they just want to see a really good fight. Thus enters Sir George, who has come to slay the dragon - unless he can be convinced that the dragon really is no harm to the good humans living nearby.

I really enjoyed listening to this story, and because of its short length, it will probably be one that I listen to again when I need a quick feel-good story with a wonderful narrator.

I had never read this short story before, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Stories from so long ago don't always hold up, especially in terms of vocabulary that a kid can grasp. No such worries here, while there were a couple words that were unusual, they didn't get in the way of my kid's comprehension. There's a frame story that was cute, rather than a waste of time as they generally are, which I appreciated. The actual story, after it gets going, pokes fun at the whole idea of knights slaying dragons in a way that was funny to me, and it entertained my 5 year old immensely.

What a fun George and the dragon tale! It is a wonderful tale of how no one really fits in with others' preconceived notions.
The multiple narrators resulted in an old style radio play.
