When a former foster kid who has led a solitary life works hard to build a future for herself she is taken aback on her fast day at work when her boss turns out to be awful. But Jane has suffered far worse in her life and refuses to be deterred. The closer she works with Edward the closer they become. This retelling of Jane Eyre was super enjoyable but I just felt like it was missing something.

A good job of modernizing the plot and getting rid of some of the unsavory parts. It was great to see some classic lines and still see a new story where you didn't quite know what was going to happen.

Jane Eyre is one of my FAVORITE classics and this was a great tribute to it! Edward is quirky crazy and Jane is resilient. A little slow at parts, but well worth the read. ♥️

Jane Eyre Retelling

Jane & Edward was not at all what I was expecting. In a good way. It was a little hard in the beginning, but after that my reading went smoothly. There were so many twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting but really enjoyed them.

I loved Jane & Edwards relationship. I loved the assistant/boss dynamic, the author managed to write where Jane didn’t feel like the classic naive girl who falls for the hot boss, something I’m incredibly happy about. The same thing is to be said for Edward. I loved them together and I had a great time with them!

I have to say this book was more of a women’s fiction than a romance, 1/3 was romance and the other 2/3 is about Jane discovering herself, what she wants. I usually wouldn’t go for this types of books but it was really enjoyable so I don’t regret reading it!

I cannot get this book out of my head!! I loved it so much!
I grew up with the story of Jane Eyre and finally read it a few years ago. There are so many “modern retellings” of classics that are just ok, but this one knocks it out of the park.

I really enjoyed this and found myself completely absorbed. I loved seeing how well Edward and Jane fit and complemented each other. I kind of wished we could have seen more of the tension between the two, but can also see how that would slow the pace down. I also would have loved a chapter or two from Edward’s POV, but could also see how that may not work. I’m just greedy for more pining.
