AUDIOBOOK

I really enjoyed this collection on prayers. I enjoy hearing how others pray - what pulls on their heart, what angers them, how do they like to talk to God, etc. This audiobook was a great collection of prayers from so many different perspectives. I really enjoyed the "chicken noodle soup" prayers - it helped me to visualize the prayer and feel the emotions. I learned about breathing prayers and look forward to practicing those more.

This book caught my attention because I have felt distant from God and have felt like I lost my ability to pray - which has always been a huge part of my life. This book was good encouragement reminding me to pray however and wherever I want. I was hoping this would have more instruction on prayer, but I'm thankful that it didn't.

I recommend this book if you need to shake up your boring, stale prayer life.

This prayer book is as deeply rooted in the Jesus tradition as it is authentic and unpretentious. No big theology here, just the heart cries of disparate women from all corners of the faith. I used to wonder why I felt like such an outlier in the way I think about life, but when I read this I knew I had found my tribe. If you have not yet begun to deconstruct your faith, this book will likely offend, however if you are ready, it can open the door to a renewed faith.

Sarah Bessey is one of my favorite Christian writers currently, but I was on the fence about getting this book on prayer, because I just wasn't sure I'd use it. I always feel a little blah about my prayer life. However one of best friends who has a knack getting gifts you didn't even know how much you wanted, went ahead and ordered it for me, and she was spot on.

I suspect most reviews of this book will be very personal. If you're living in faith deconstruction spaces, the thoughtful collection Bessey has put forth will be a welcome tool to assist you on your path, wherever it may lead. She purposely includes a variety of voices across the spectrum of Christian faith communities, races, genders, and sexual orientations so that those searching for diverse voices will find what they're looking for.

No one makes space for restful restorative contemplation like an Enneagram 9 and Bessey is the 9-est of 9s.

Lovely collection of prayers and reflections—authentic and vulnerable, speaking hard truths and full feelings.
