My rating of the last book was 5 stars so I'm a little sad about this book.

The first half is particularly weak as Mossdeep who I LOVED in the first book felt like an annoying vessel just saying a random opinion the author wanted us to consider very deep. The visiting of various places felt a little disjointed and the next chapter almost goes on as though the previous one just didn't happen. The dialogue I liked less than the first book as it really feels like there's moments where the author just has some point they want us ponder and feel moved by. It feels preachy at times when I found it a lot more natural in the first book.

In positive notes, Mossdeep I think improves in the second half and is less preachy. Dex is even more likeable in this entire book than the first. I find their struggles very relatable and they're handled realistically. I think the author does a good job at this. The conflict in the book feels pretty realistic and not like characters are acting a certain way just to further the plot. The world is still interesting and I particularly liked the talk of various plastics and methods to print objects. The moments of Mossdeep interacting with people are a pleasure.

I honestly struggle whether I want to read more of the series with how much I disliked parts of this book in comparison to the first book.
