This book is so damn nice! A lot of nice quotes that I just simply adoree! Something about the lesson thing. That's my personal fav!
*update: i found it!

Alice: And how many hours a day did you do lessons?
The Mock Turtle: Ten hours the first day, nine the next, and so on.
Alice: What a curious plan!
The Gryphon: That's the reason they're called lessons, because they lessen from day to day.

Aint that the awesomest thing ever? If only it works like that in real life.

but but the ending was quite sudden though. i wish it was more interesting. still a good book. read read!

This remains a favorite for me. I had never read Through the looking glass, and quite enjoyed it! Great story and always makes me smile

I love these books. I have read them so many times. Fun and nonsensical and beautifully written.
One thing I always feel the need to mention - the classic Disney film is based on BOTH of these books, not just the titular Alice in Wonderland - so even if you've seen the film a bunch of times it's so very worth reading the books for the additional details.
Great universal appeal to children and adults alike.

Hard to believe I never got to this one before. So much of popular culture references it. At least I'm ready for Tim Burton's take now.

I read both of these in a really short time. I read Alice in Wonderland on the way back from a trip and just finished Through the Looking-Glass today. Both of these are for the 1001 books to read before you die list. Alice has a very creative imagination and can get herself in to the most scrapes!

So absolutely funny. This is considered a kids book but I don’t really think children would understand the nuance of the humor.
Disney’s Alice and wonderland I now realize is an amazing adaptation, taking the best parts of the book and putting them in a perfect combination and order.
The first story is perfect, and if it was only the first I would give this 5 stars. The first story follows Alice trying to get to the garden and that’s what drives the whole story even though she gets side tracked along the way. The second story is kind of just things happening randomly and her allowing these things to happen to her which makes it less compelling. There’s no one set goal throughout the whole story and feels more like a compilation of short stories that are barely connected. Unlike the first story where we see and hear about the same characters quite often. I would even suggest to a first time reader to read through the looking glass before wonderland.
