Another quick read by James Patterson, a continuation of the NYPD Red series. Kylie AND Zach continue to partner as elite cops solving high profile cases, while they struggle with their personal lives and relationships. Always enjoyable.

So new review and with a re-read of this series, the couple 4 star ratings of some of these is moving to a 5 star because they're seriously getting soooooooooooooo much better the second time through. And now I'm STOKED to finally be on book 5 and on audio with the Libby app this time.

As usual, Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald are just wow! And to have Kylie's personal story as a main personal life side story was better this second time, and Zach just cracks me up with his love life and braindead moments where his ego gets in the way and has to learn some things so slowly and the hard way. but he does learn ;) and it makes me love him all the more.

The first time I read this, Kylie Zach had a side case to help with the Mayor's husband and I thought it was random and felt like a fill-in of sorts, but again the second time through I actually liked it and it showed the stress of what it's probably like for two detective partners to have more than one case going and also when one of them has a relapsed drug addict husband on the loose and she doesn't know what to do and has extra stress with that along with their side case and their BIG main case.

If you haven't read this series yet even though Patterson isn't my favorite tbh, this series and the characters and this world is a whole other story. I seriously love these soooooo much and has some of the best dang characters and police detectives on an elite and special created task force to protect the rich and famous. It's clever, it's fun, different, and like I've said in my other reviews.......

THIS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HAAAAAAAAS TO BE A TV SERIES CRIME SHOW DRAMA!!! Not just these cases here in the series but that includes other cases to expand on and also expand MORE on the main characters personal lives as well. So if you get a chance to read these, put these at the top of you list or on your TBR!

2016 reading list: a book released in 2016.

Another satisfying read - 3*

This book continues to have the same problems: the plot is not very complex (and often quite guessable), and there is a continuing focus on the relationship between Zach and Kylie, which I do not ship (AT ALL)!

I do like NYPD Red and that's why I continue to read this series. There are so many problems but I don't know why, I do enjoy it.

I hope there's a 5th NYPD Red...

A few years ago, I gave up reading most of James Patterson's books. When all his books added co-authors, I found that I didn't like the writing much anymore and I quit reading him. When I saw the Red series, I thought I'd give it a try. But I think I'm ready to quit again.

If this is the NYPD's "elite task force" looks like, I'd hate to see the scrubs! Both mysteries get solved, but the work couldn't have been any sloppier. Then Kylie goes completely off the reservation to find her drug-addicted husband repeatedly throughout the book, waving her badge around and bullying her way to the information she wants. And Zach, the idiot, helps her, leaving Cheryl at home waiting for him. I was just shaking my head, annoyed for most of the book. The only positive is that the story moves at a fast pace.

James, I think we need to break-up again. I'm sorry.

A really good read, wish there had been a little bit more shock moments, kind of saw everything coming.

Good story with many plot twists. Enjoyable and a quick read. Reads like an TV episode arc. More enjoyable from the last one as the authors keeps fleshing the characters lives.
