I never read these as a kid. I was way beyond Kid Stage when the Goosebumps books were published. But I recently read a posting by someone who was reading them again for nostalgia. So I figured, sure, why not? This is my second one and will definitely be my last.
The stories are short and sweet and I definitely enjoy the fact that the two I've read finish with the definite feeling they are not finished!
But I just can't do one more minute of siblings! OMG! "He's touching me!" "No I'm not!" "Did too!" "Did NOT!" I admit, it's not so often I couldn't continue. But it's enough I'm not setting myself up for it again!
My 4-star review has nothing to do with that, though. I'm pretty sure if there were no such episodes, this is the rating I'd give the writing and the story.

Goosebumps #2 a fun take on The Fly.....more the Vincent Price version than the Cronenberg movie although that would be interesting as a kid's book.
Read for my brother's show in London. For kids. A bit scary for me too :)
i laughed more than i got creeped out this was so fun. if my dad had told me to stay out of the basement when i was a kid i’m damn sure going to disobey my unhealthy amount of curiosity and stay out of the basement. especially if he’s a mad scientist.
best spoilery but non-spoilery lines without context:
“i’m trying to build a plant that’s part animal” is where i’d have gotten off the crazy train
“give me the axe!!”

“EAT IT!!”
my two favorite parts of this were where their dad tried to feed them some gross green stuff for lunch in the most insistent, evil, and maniacal way ever. id have thrown that shit in his face and ran the hell out of that house
