It's been a long while since I read an Agatha Christie. It was an easy read, as every chapter was a story in itself. I enjoyed reading a story every night before bed:) I love the character of Hercule Poriot; he rocks. The stories are a bit predictable, but still fun.

I first started reading Agatha Christie when I was 11 or 12--and now I'm almost 43. Miss Marple or Poirot? Poirot, vraiment!I love the little egg-shape headed, puffed up, mustachioed, Belgium detective. Somewhere in the last decade or two, Christie's books became "comfort reading" for me. And yesterday, recovering from some nasty stomach flu, I re-read, yet again, "The Labors of Hercules," wherein our protagonist is contemplating permanent retirement to the country to raise a better crop of vegetable marrow (which from what I have read elsewhere is related to the U.S. zucchini). However, after a friendly discussion about the classics--Hercules and Achilles included--Poirot decides to hand pick his last 12 cases to match the 12 Labors of Hercules. The 12 short cases include several favorite Poirot characters: Chief Inspector Japp, the Countess Vera Rossakoff, the ever-faithful George. Alas, Arthur Hastings and Ariadne do not make appearances. The perfect collection for any British mystery fan needing a quick, interesting read.

Super enjoyable, short, varied mystery stories that follow a unique premise. Agatha Christie was a master at her craft. Definitely a collection worth checking out.

Only softcover. Stupid inaccurate cover pictures.

A series of short cases connecting Poirot’s investigations to the 12 labors of Hercules. Like most Christie shorts, the tales are hit or miss, but there’s some nice humor in the collection.
