Parece um livro escrito com certa preguiça, as resoluções ou sendo óbvias ou não tendo contexto, o mais interessante que era acompanhar as insinuações da sexualidade do Poirot são contraditas no último conto com o que parece fora de caráter

Being a series of twelve short stories connected through the theming of the labours of hercules, I've averaged out the rating.

Christie does seem to do better as a novel writer than one of short stories in my experience, and while I did enjoy reading this, some stories were obviously weaker than others. The stories being so short does take away an element of the mystery of it as they are over so quick, and more than a couple of them did become obvious due to the brevity (If it has to tie into what's mentioned then that leaves little option)

However, I quite enjoyed The Nemean Lion, The Erymanthian Boar, The Stymphalean Birds, The Cretan Bull, The Horses of Diomedes, The Flock of Geryon and The Capture of Cerberus.

I saw a BBC TV adaptation of the book where it merged 3 of the stories in one story. So, when I started listening to the original book, I was understandably a bit confused.
Now, back to content. The book is about 12 challenges Poirot sets for himself. 12 small stories, each with a different plot and characters. This made it more like a collection of short stories I think this made each of the stories less convincing, and the plots are more far-fetched than the usual Christie standard.
All in all, not a bad read.

2.5 stars—I liked a couple of these short stories but most of them felt really underdeveloped and predictable

It was a very interesting idea - the twelve labours of Hercules. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but somewhere between 'The Horses of Diomedes' and 'The Girdle of Hippolyta' I completely lost interest, but short stories are generally not my cup of tea.
Out of nowhere plot twists are no doubt the essence of Christie's book and I like them, but somehow it felt a bit too much. Nevertheless, I was entertained and that means the purpose of this book was fulfilled.

Another enjoyable Poirot. This one was quite different- like a selection of short stories, but the difference is that these short stories were part of a bigger picture. It was really quite clever.
I found some of the stories didn't hold my interest and yet the ending/solution still astounded or interested me.
