How The Grump Saved Christmas
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"How do I look at her?"
"Like you want to jingle her bells."

"And you were right. I didn’t even realize how unhappy I was. But I was miserable. It wasn’t just because I’d let greed drive me for so long, although that was part of it. I was miserable because I didn’t have you.”

Was this my favorite Claire Kinglsey book? No. But was it a cute, quick, Christmas story that I'd recommend? Yes.

This was a grumpy x sunshine, second chance romance, with some scroogey, grinchy vibes. Elias, our MMC, was lacking happiness and sunshine in his life. Work and the goal of success had taken over. As we progressed through the book, we get his backstory, and boy did I feel bad for him. Not only what he went through as a kid, but also what led to his breakup with Isabelle.

Isabelle was definitely full of Christmas cheer, which I loved. However, I did find her stubborness to be a bit much at times. I did feel for her and what she went through with Elias when they were younger.

I enjoyed watching this relationship rekindle, grow, and develop all while they were trying to save the family Christmas tree farm. That ending and epilogue? Loved 🥹

Also, having read Claire's Bailey Brother series, I loved seeing our squirell friends again 😉 (IYKYK).

A second chance romance during the holidays. This one has shades of A Christmas Carol with its Scrooge trying to buy out the local farm. I really enjoyed this one but found the ending a little too fast after it seemed like a big buildup to something more. This one is definitely a predictable holiday romance but I would still recommend.

This was a Hallmark movie in book form. A grumpy and ambitious New Yorker goes back to his small hometown to buy out his ex's crumbling family farm but ends up falling back in love with her and helping her save it instead. Cheesy but really cute and well-written.

Spice level 2-3. There are several mentions of sex happening but no really graphic depictions.

I honestly almost DNF’d this because I disliked Elias THAT MUCH. Thankfully, I stuck with it and his character redeemed himself big time!
