I adored this world. So good. The ending felt a little empty, but still a beautiful read.

Okay, this one totally made up for the other two books. It made me love the characters and I even almost cried a little. The end was really really good that's all I have to say, and I'm not even mad that Amani and Jin were brought back to life, they deserved it.

I cried... this entire book I was so terrified to find how it ended. I almost did not want to finish it. I loved it! It was great just like the other books! But I still cried and don’t appreciate that lol

I lovely conclusion to the series!

Heck, I read it all in like two days. That says a lot. I'm always searching for more diversity in the fantasy novels I consume (in all novels, really, but the deviation from what you'd expect is especially exciting in fantasy for some reason). This steampunk desert-setting is really cool, and I think there are tons of good supporting characters here and the protag is more than the window we see the world through, she's got her own agency.

Overall, really nice.

This series really grew on me and the last book was definitely the best! I am really glad that I continued this series after my doubts in the first book. Amani grew so much as a character, but also the writing style became much more elaborate throughout the books. This book was very exciting and brought a great end to this series.
SpoilerMore Buraki's would have been better though (not really, but I just love (magical) horses!)

This series was so unexpectedly wonderful. I wasn't expecting to love these characters as much as I came to love them. You read enough fiction, fantasy, ya, whatever and after a while you get used to certain rhythms and patterns, specially if you follow the same authors over and over again. Alwyn Hamilton was a new author discovery for me and I wasn't sure going into the series if I would follow it to the end, but it's one of those stories that just stayed strong in my head. I enjoyed the series and I can't wait to read more of her stuff.
