The way this is written, this is such a visceral, gut-wrenching read. I read it in a single sitting.  It really made me think and wonder what I would do in a similar situation.

This novella takes the form of diary entries, written by a retired doctor who’s trying to keep her mind together in a small town where exposure to the constant rainfall erases memories. No one knows what’s causing the phenomenon, but even drinking and bathing can be dangerous if the water isn’t properly prepared.

This story was gripping, with a pretty shocking ending. I liked the epistolary style. But I wasn’t totally satisfied with it because the mysterious phenomenon remained a mystery in the end. I didn’t need it to be completely explained in technical sci-fi detail or anything, but a little more light shed on the scope of it would have been nice.

I received an ARC of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A short book about a town plagued by tap water and constant rainfall that erases your memory. Great for a quick read. Started the book and got a bit into it before restarting it to better grasp the story elements being introduced in the beginning.

I don’t usually gravitate toward post-apocalyptic themes and I’m still not entirely sure if that is what this is but I did find the concept for the setting interesting. The narrator is only partially reliable, which makes for a pretty mysterious story. Overall, it was a good read and I would recommend it if you want to read a book you could get through in a single sitting.
