this book was so charming; i read this in chapters to my daughter before bed and she enjoyed it so much. both of us are looking forward to starting book 3, Finn Family Moonmintroll.

Such a wholesome, cozy book - and yet never saccharine, because the humor kept things from ever getting too heavy. I adored the messages Jansson conveys through character conversations, how the world is whimsical yet also vaguely set somewhere in our world (or adjacent to it). Looking forward to the next book, and to sharing this with my nieces!

This was my first ever book that I read in Swedish! So maybe I'm not qualified to really give it a rating. I can say that the writing reminded me very much of Jules Verne, in that most of the book is about traveling, with a row of relatively random "encounters"/things happening that have relatively little impact on the story overall. Very different from what I usually read, but neither especially good nor bad.
