Jansson was getting into her stride with the world of the Moomins in this book from 1946.

Jak narazie historia Muminków jest dla mnie po prostu okej, może z czasem coś sie zmieni
"Must you be so poetic?" said Sniff. "When we were in the valley you only talked about how wonderful other places were."
"That was different"' said Moomintroll.
"But it's true," said Snufkin."'We're all like that. You must go on a long journey before you can really find out how wonderful home is."
As with last time, the Moomin books are delightful. The writing is simple and fluid, as is fitting for a children's book, but it's also whimsical and often poetic, bringing to life the trees, the mountains, the sky and the whole world with it. There's not really a plot: it's more that we're taken along on this journey, so we can experience all the curious things that happen along with the characters. It's very chill, which I liked. The blend of fantasy and woodland with more modern elements was also funny, and added something of unique to the setting.
I loved to meet the new characters, of which Snufkin is definitely my favorite. His carefree kindness and wanderlust have captivated me, and I just really like how he looks, as well—just a little guy. The illustrations are very pretty, and I felt like drawing several characters. Also, the Hemulens gave me big autistic vibes. Good for them.
I do have to say we got some period-typical sexism with the female characters. They are more often than not put in the roles of caretaker and homemaker, and there's even some vanity and airheadness for the Snork Maiden.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely pick up the next one when I feel like taking a stroll through the relaxing, whimsical Moominland.
