I very much loved seeing another part of the World of the Others, particularly one with a different assortment of terra indigene and more of a focus on the Crowgard.  Aggie was adorable, and I really liked Julian.  This is more horror story than mystery.  The villains are clear from the start, it's mostly a race to see if the protagonists can figure things out and prepare themselves before the villains succeed.

Vicki was okay as heroines go but after reading all of the "Lakeside Courtyard" series, I had hoped for a MC that wasn't abused by men so badly that she can't really be touched in anything but the most dispassionate of ways.  And the fact that the two female characters with non-skinny bodytypes were both fat-shamed and body-shamed and generally socially abused with no one calling out the behavior at the time, while two male characters were described as large and the only real comment was that they could be "scary" but no bodyshaming... that gendered double standard made me sad.

Plot-wise it was also frustrating in that since we knew who the bad guys were and what their plan was for the start, it was annoying to see the protagonists dither even when they knew better.  And the few times they tried to be proactive the Elders were like, "nah, sit down, we got this" or random terra indigene would show up to save the day.  I would have liked a bit more of seeing how the terra indigene in the Wild Country interacted together instead of the "Courtyard Lite" that we got.
