This is the first book I've read by a straight white man since 2018. It wasn't written terribly well. There was a lot of repetition. But I enjoyed the plot, and have take aways that I will remember.

My friend and I read this and thought that it would be easier to scam new age believers to make money than to write actual books. Nothing ever came of that, but i commend this idea to you before reading the Celestine Prophecy.

As a story, laughably bad; written solely to push spiritual views, characters somehow conveniently appear at just the right time for the self-insert protagonist and are cardboard mentor figures; but at least it's funny bad. As spiritual content, a couple observations are solid, but then derails into something weird; the several points made range from iffy to somewhat problematic; doesn't feel revolutionary at all as the author and marketing seem to hype up

I’m not going to waste more time reading this book. Absolute rubbish

There were a lot of things I liked, and a few things I didn’t like. It was a fun read that setup the second book to make me want to read it.

Many people don’t like how this book reads. I saw reviews saying that James Redfield is just trying to mass produce his ideas and indoctrinate; although, I don’t believe those people should be reading. Books have always been used to put your ideas to paper, James just did it in a story format.

The book did get a little repetitive. Every chapter he would be traveling with someone, meet someone else, learn the next insight from them, and travel with them instead. It repeated like this in every chapter.

Small spoiler: I appreciated the connection between the manuscript and the church. I couldn’t understand why so many priest wanted to learn and preach the manuscript. However, it became clear in the last chapter when Father Sanchez was explaining to the Cardinal that the feelings talked about in the manuscript were the same feelings prophets would get in the Old Testament. That we are just now understanding the importance of these truths.

Overall, it was a fun read recommended to me by my dad, and later my mom. I’m glad I finally got to read it.
