<3 Couldn't put it down, I started and finished it today. Great love story :)

3.5

It was a good story to fill a long drive, but some of the dialogue bugged me. I also did not really like Tate. I listened to this as an audiobook and one of the voice actors had a voice that I did not like so it kind of took away from the experience.

PLEASSSSE!
I don’t think an MMC has frustrated me SO much before, and I think that was the point. Miles and Tate agreed to fuck with no strings attached, but of course, how successful of a time can that really be? Neither one of them wanted something void of emotion, and that’s what made it devastating, because one side was incapable of reciprocating.
TYPICAL!

“Ugly love becomes you.
Consumes you.”

Miles had his own baggage. Should he have agreed to the agreement? No. He should’ve gotten therapy and called it a day. I’m not saying that you can’t seek guidance from other people, but there’s a way to go about it, and that wasn’t it!!
But, I ATE the drama UP! And I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t extremely emotional!
It was another gut punch when you finally figure out how the cover of this book connects with the story. My opinion on Miles drastically changed after we got to know him better, and understand who he was and what he was battling.

“… Everything with Miles hurts. It hurts because I know how good our moments are, and I know how easily the bad moments would go away if he would just stop trying to fight this.”
Tate “I can fix him” Collins…
Most of the book is written in her POV, and the hookup scenes were tough.
(Not me reading about a no strings attached hookup and feeling empty after every chapter, while sitting next to my boyfriend of 6 years… LMAO)
The frustration she felt at trying to get him to open up to her. The gaslighting she went through. The sex with no aftercare (aftercare is important idc what anyone says). It’s like a constant weight on your heart. You don’t want to break it off, because, then you get nothing, and SOMETHING is better than nothing.
SAD AF!

Yet another CoHo book that I flew through… Pun intended!
I was completely locked in. CH’s writing style works for me. It keeps me entertained. She knows how to write a page turner, for sure!!

Second book I've read from Colleen Hoover and I have to say, I am a huge fan! Loved the characters and romance that sucked me in all the way through.

Not awful but not great. I think romance novels are just not for me and I should stop letting TikTok influence me..

Can someone explain to me what Tate does outside of work, school, and Miles? Where are her friends? Real friends. Her first mention of friends is chapter 21 and even then one of them is just mentioned and the other is only used as a device plot to make Miles jealous. We know more about her brother's personal life than we do about the main character. Tate even visits home for Thanksgiving and she has no friends from childhood, or discussion about them, and even Tate's conversation with her mother is about Miles and little else. Seriously every single conversation with every character in this book revolves around Miles.

There is so much I want to touch on but I'll leave it at this: I am fairly convinced this book is vanilla 50 Shades of Grey fanfiction.

ps: Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson did it better.
