I really enjoy this series and it is nice to hear Christopher start to come into his own. He is still easily lovestruck which is cute and belies his youth (he is only 18 years old) I was wondering how they would handle his graduation and move into adulthood. They solved this by having him apprentice with his grandfather.
Life moves on while Lord Edgington and Christopher are solving murders. They are snowed in unexpectedly in a house full of actors. Christopher’s keeping up with gossip papers helps shape the backstories, the clues and comic relief..
A stranger arrives, a murder happens, and cops won’t arrive for 3-5 days, yikes!
In a house full of actors, how do you know who is telling the truth? How did the killer escape without making fresh tracks in the snow? Oh, and why… were they killed?
Is not being themselves hindering the investigation? Is this one investigation they won’t solve?
A very fun read and great addition to the series. As always the narration is awesome!

I think this might be in my top 3 Lord Edgington books now! The setting was gorgeous, the characters were eclectic and intriguing, and I loved our master sleuths trying to go "undercover" while snowed in with all these strangers. Benedict Brown's Christmas stories are some of his best and you really get a sense of the amount of research he puts into making them historically accurate while also entertaining.

Christopher and his grandfather are off on another adventure. After a successful Christmas program, the whole family is taking off to visit his brother's girlfriend's family. However, on the way Christopher and his grandfather get stuck in the snow and end up at Weston Manor.
It has recently been bought by a producer who is on his second wife, the beautiful Georgiana. She is known not only for being an amazing actress but also for having been in a scandal with a high ranking politician and for being in a relationship with a man who was murdered. It is that last that encourages Christopher to tell his grandfather to remain incognito.
They are not the only travelers to take shelter in the manor. A shady character calling himself Mr. Black also joins the party. While he is on the phone, the rest of the group begins a game of hide and seek which begins in the dark. It is while the lights are off that a gun goes off and someone is dead.
