I found this to be pretty lighthearted and entertaining. The one things that kept it from being a 5 star read for me was the way Barrett talked about women with his brothers, I didn’t think it fit his character and threw me off a couple times. Other than that small detail, this was a fantastic book and a great way to start the Landry series.

Barrett was all in with Alison from the moment he met her. I loved how he pursued her but took things at her pace. He had a lot of past hook up baggage that interfered with his life and a couple bad eggs in his camp, but he tackled those problems well.

I loved the political aspect of this book. It cast a light on the moral dilemma I’m sure plenty of politicians face, is it better to sacrifice your integrity to win or stick to your guns and risk losing? Barrett was constantly second guessing his gut, but Alison really helped him take a second look and be a man he was proud of, win or lose.

I really enjoyed the secondary characters. The Landry family is full of charismatic people and I can’t wait to see more of them. Lincoln was one of my favorites, especially the way he embraced Alison and Huxley into the family. I’m so glad his book is next!

Adriana has done it again! Made me fall for another of her characters. Barrett Landry has definitely swayed my vote.

I am in love with this story and the characters in it. Barrett has definitely pulled his way to the top of my list of book boyfriends right now. He is sexy, and alpha and sweet and so great with Huxley, the cutest little boy that you will read about. Alison is strong and feisty and caring for her family and she is a great paring with Barrett.

Their chemistry is great. I love the tension and the build up and I love the banter between the two. This book made me laugh, made me swoon, made me throw up my hands in frustration at times. The whole time though, I could not put it down. I was hooked from page one.

Adriana knows how to write amazing characters and storylines and I am always sad after I have finished one of her books because I know I have to wait for the next one. I cannot recommend this book any higher. I absolutely loved every minute of it.

I bought this series ages ago during an audible sale and finally got around to listening. I probably would have enjoyed this more 5 or 6 years ago, but it just felt like the typical read from that time. Not certain if I will continue.

Audio - the southern accents were so over the top.

Yeeessssssss!!!! I have so much love for this book. I won't lie, reading a romance novel about a politician was something I never thought I would do. I hate politics. But this book? While it doesn't change my opinion of politics, it definitely has me feeling silly for almost passing it up over such a reason! The Landry brothers are awesome. They talk like real men talk to one another, and it feels so much more normal compared to most other books out there. Barrett isn't always smooth. Ali isn't desperate for love. It's refreshing how relatable these characters are, even when their situations aren't completely. The writing is excellent, the story is beautiful, and I'm definitely a fan.
