Well that was weird. I was bummed that Sharik was such an awful person as a human because I liked him as a dog, but I guess that's sort of the whole point. Unsettling but funny. The ridiculousness of the dog having political opinions almost makes you forget that they were popular political opinions (and still popping up here today).
