Very well-written and interesting. In my opinion, it earns every emotional beat. I love Sara’s determination to be a good and noble person, it always inspires me to try a little harder and complain a little less, no matter what I go through. I don’t think this book is for everyone, but it’s a very good book, and it’s very meaningful to me.

I did like Sara, though. I liked seeing her efforts to be kind and fair, even when her circumstances were dire and downright depressing.
The narrator of the audiobook was just ok. Her voice for Miss Minchin was spot on, but everyone else sounded very similar at times.
