For the first 2/3 of the book, I didn't really understand the love. I liked the book, but I couldn't understand the love that so many had for it. I couldn't see why I would want to read on in the series. But that ending...wow! That hooked me and I need to know what happens next!

I found this book started strong. Really good main characters, interesting and original plot. But as it went Ali g lost interest a bit.

I found that sometimes the characters reactions didn't fit with what was happening -like finding out someone is hundreds of years old and just going home to bed like it's no big deal, or finding out people want you dead but taking zero extra precautions.

A lot if the end of this book was trying to set the stage for book 2 and so I found myself losing interest and am not sure just yet if I'll give the second book a go.

I enjoyed the type of magic in this story and was pleasantly surprised by the Greek mythology aspect. I liked that it was a bit of a mystery that was slowly unraveled and the ending was exciting. I do wish the pacing would have picked up a little sooner though, since most of the excitement takes place in the last 30% of the book.

I actually rlly enjoyed this book!! i will say i had a lil slow interest in the beginning but it started to pick up & i couldn’t put it down haha. spoiler alertttt if anybody reads this but i was def starting to get curious about karter!! like the author did leave some easter eggs about him & bri’s encounters with him that made you question & be suspicious of him but yupp i was like he was involved with the movies & she shouldn’t have shown him the damn heart🤦🏾‍♀️ the author does help you think about what might be going wrong so it’s not like i came to that conclusion completely by myself but still. that’s just wild homegirl lied about the house & wrote those letters!! but how did circe know to come back?? where was she?? i’m sure that’s addressed in book two but omgggg. i also gotta say that bri started getting on my nerves (as every main character does for me) bc she rlly was making some dumb decisions but i guesssss i gotta remember she’s a teen but still homegirl use your brain!!

I enjoyed that this book felt modern but still transported you to a whimsical the setting. I do wish we had more information and backstory for more of the different people in Rhineback.   I did like the book enough to make me want to read the sequel to see what happens but some parts just fell flat.
