Hansen’s collection aptly reflects the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center’s mission statement. Though her poetry, which is complimented by the illustrations by Paul Johnsgard, is complex and engaging, I do not know that it would convert any non-nature enthusiasts to feel compelled to engage with and/or appreciate the natural world. This chapbook seems to have been written for those who are already on board with the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center’s mission statement and can relish in the written word for environmental conservation.
