OK, so it's true-I'm gonna be reading a lot of graphic novels this week to meet my 100 book challenge. :p But, I love graphic novels, and I have a of them to go through anyways, so...it's all good!

Collected Vol. 4 of Runaways was not disappointing in the least. Brian K. Vaughan is an excellent writer, so, no surprise there. I love my super hero stories with high science fiction themes, and this volume kicks off with time travel from the future back into the past, and I almost always love those stories. Plus, it's setting up a larger story arc that could be very cool. I think I'll just continue onto Vol. 5 of Runaways because I got it in the mail today from paperbackswap! Perfect timing! :D

Hmm. Somehow not as strong as earlier volumes, perhaps because of the constant references to other characters from the Marvel universe, most of which were unfamiliar to me. Volume 4 seems a bit too convoluted and action-driven, with less emphasis on the core characters and their inner lives and relationships. I'm still continuing with the series, but found this one a little bit of a let-down.

The twists and turns in this were great. I have absolutely no idea who the grownups that used to be teenage heroes/villains are, so I had to do some research. But I really like the storyline with Victor. Though, this was lacking character development from the main Runaways by focusing on Victor. I wasn't a huge fan of this artwork, but the plot and dialogue make up for that.

A really cool call-back to earlier Marvel characters, and a fun little side story!

This gets five stars for the amazing references alone. Happily, this series keeps getting better, as Vaughn can move on from the set-up and let the Runaways grow into a fully-fleshed out team. This series is ridiculously fun and entertaining.

I like the new direction this book takes the series in. Lots of different superheroes showing up is fun and I love the humour and drama.

Oh, the layers just keep coming. I loved the plotline about the former teen superheroes starting a support group. I only knew one of those characters (and it turned out that may not have been relevant...) but the concept was great. Vaughan is really thinking about the whole teen superhero deal and how it would affect these kids' lives. I'm definitely sucked in at this point.
