This latest CoHo delivered. I appreciate how direct her writing and characters are. It makes it difficult to walk away from her stories.

Kenna is released from prison after five years and is focused on reconnecting with the daughter she never met. To help her process her emotions, she writes letters to her boyfriend, Scotty, who died in the wreck that led to her imprisonment.

Scotty’s parents have been raising their daughter all these years. They are fearful that Kenna’s return will disrupt everything they’ve worked to piece back together after Scotty’s death.

Stuck in the middle of all of this is Ledger. Scotty’s best friend who has grown attached to this little girl. He’s also the first person Kenna meets when she returns to town.

I loved that the chapters alternated between Kenna and Ledger, sharing their perspectives as they try to figure out what’s best for Kenna’s daughter.

Darn you Colleen for making me cry over one of your books again. How dare you send us on yet another emotional roller coaster. Also I loved this book so much. It may take me awhile to process this story.
