A very sweet and endearing story about love and grief. It has a bit of a slow start but things do pick up. The ending is a little bit too picturesque but still good. I think all of the friendships/relationships developed really organically and I liked the slower development, it felt more real.

Maybe I’m petty but I wish Nat never reunited her friendship with Edie. Forgiveness and moving up is one thing but I could never go back to what it once was. Then again no one has ever accused me of being too forgiving lol.

Lia Louis will always be a must-read author for me. She never shied away from the truly tough shit, the seasons of life that feel unbearable until you find yourself on the other side of them. This book takes grief and wrings it out onto a page in the best way possible. It’s visceral, it’s hopeful, it’s full of a fantastic mix of characters. Made me cry, made me laugh, made me want to make music again.

I was sadly disappointed in "The Key to My Heart." The pace was slow, and the main character was the only one really well developed until the last fourth of the book. For a long book, those are not enjoyable traits. It felt repetitive.

There's a sort of love triangle, but one of the men never seemed like a viable option to me. He just seemed to be a plot device.

I expected this book to be one of my favorites of 2022 because I loved "Eight Perfect Hours" so much. This one didn't work for me though.

Of COURSE I loved this book! Music! Train stations! Random connections! Home remodel! Loved. And lots of emotions shared. Communication. I loved the characters and the growth of many relationships.
