Definitely one of the more amusing tellings of the Revolutionary War. Lots of great details in the illustrations (including the gophers on Ethan Allen's list of enemies. Caddy Shack, anyone?). Generally, highly enjoyable.

I think that this was an interesting way to tell the history of what has happened in the United States. I also think that this book would be easy to read for kids and that it’s very informative of what actually happened in the time period that it was talking about.

Great graphic novel to read if you love history or no very little of it. Could be a great resource in the classroom. It had some comic relief throughout all of the fighting and discussion of war.

I wasn't the right audience for this one. We read this book for my "Great Reads for Girls" group. It was in a rotation box so I didn't choose this book.

Kinda boring, but it's history, and it's about war, so that's to be expected. The comics make it more bearable, if you're being forced to read it.

History and humor all rolled up in a graphic novel. What's not to love?

This is a re-read, but I'd never marked it read so here goes. If we ever cross paths in real life, stop me and ask me about this series of historical graphic novels and I will rave endlessly about how smart and funny they are, how they perfectly mix learning and entertainment, how the narrators address the needs of struggling readers and higher level thinkers, and how Hale really creatively uses the format to do things you just couldn't do in a straight text. This is the first in the series and both times I've read it I've thought, "Man, I wish I'd come up with this idea" because it's just so perfect. I'm going to use this in our Revolutionary War unit this year, and I know the kids will love it.
