Some of these side stories in Marvel's big events really become throw away tittles that they home will sell because of the link. I didn't feel that was the case here. There is a good amount of back story here on a Spidey villain that we really haven't gotten to know yet and there is a very touching moment between Betty Brant and Spider-Man near the end. It's not a necessary read to understand Spider-Man, Dark Reign, or Mr. Negative but it is a worthwhile read for all 3.
