I enjoy these types of books that give me new ideas of things to do with my kids.

I feel like the title is misleading for this book. To me, it seems like these should be activities that take the place of TV, so maybe a 15-30 min time frame? Some of these took 2 minutes and that was it. So really these aren't just things to do instead of TV, but rather all of their ideas do not involve watching television. I would change the title to be "Random Things To Do with Your Kids."

This book is a bit outdated. It has a lot of ideas involving encyclopedias.

We did all the ideas that were age appropriate for my son (4) and that we had the stuff for. Some ideas were better than others. I could always tell the good ones when my son asked to do it again later on. I'd say there were 40-50% of the ones we did he liked enough to ask again for them. A lot of them were a little dorky. And ideally this book is probably best for the average age of 8. There were a lot of things that my son wouldn't understand. And my guess is 12 year olds would think the ideas a little lame.
