Gloria has returned home after being missing for two weeks. She took off with the new boy at school who has a mysterious past. What follows is a police interview of twenty questions, which slowly uncovers what happened over the missing 15 days and reveals Uman's past and his secrets.

I loved the structure of this novel. It kept me engrossed and turning pages quickly so that I could find out "the truth".

This book was definitely good, but I felt like the ending was missing something. I especially did not like the last page.

A good story. A solid choice for someone looking for romance with a bit of mystery thrown in.

I received a copy of Twenty Questions for Gloria from Walker Books Australia to review. I saw this was a psychological thriller and was really excited to read it. I love psychological thrillers.

But I’m not sure I’d call this a psychological thriller at all. The definition of a psychological thriller is “a thriller story which emphasizes the unstable psychological and emotional states of its characters.” So okay, yes Uman is a little damaged but I think that’s from what his father did. I’m not sure what was up with Gloria, whether she was just bored with her life or she actually thought what her and Uman did was a good idea. I’ve read a few psychological thrillers and those other books have always had me not wanting to put the book down because I needed to know what was going on, like Girl on the Train and Gone Girl. Not this. I’d say Twenty Questions for Gloria was more a drama/mystery. I could be completely wrong about this.

I didn’t really understand Gloria or Uman and because of that I didn’t connect with either
of them and when I can’t connect with either of the main characters then it’s hard for me to like a book. I thought both of them were really selfish to do what they did with out thinking about Gloria’s family and what they were going through.

Uman was just too much for me. The way he walked into class late and started telling people what to do and just kept doing it. He came across pretentious, egotistic and way too demanding. There is no way I’d put up with someone like that in my life which is why I couldn’t like him. Even when the truth came out about his family.

I figured there was more to Uman that what the police were telling Gloria because the book would have been very predictable and boring otherwise. There was no way I could have done what Gloria and Uman did in high school. Even now it seems like a really stupid and selfish thing to do. But maybe they were just really stupid and selfish characters. Either I missed something with these characters or they weren’t very likable.

I think the fact that I didn’t like Gloria, Uman and the stuff they did was a big reason I didn’t like this book. I still gave it three stars because I still wanted to know what was going on and it did keep my attention.
