This book was a sweet, fun read! But insta-love isn’t really my thing, and the meddling of the quilters drove me nuts, to the point I was angry at Deidie at the end of the book. There wasn’t a lot of descriptors of Scotland, but this was a good read, and I enjoyed the audiobook. I’d be open to reading other books in the series.

The Accidental Scot, Kilts and Quilts #4, by Patience Griffin
Grade: B-

Pippa McDonnell will do anything to keep the family business alive, including moving back to Gandiegow, Scotland and partnering with an American company on some projects. Pippa didn’t expect the company to be in such bad shape financially and the company and the town need her to make things right. The only way to get out of financial ruin is to work with American based MTech and it’s representative Max McKinley. Max is sexy, charming and Pippa doesn’t trust him one bit to not try and steal her father’s designs. No matter how much Pippa doesn’t trust max her body does and wants nothing more than a taste of the sexy American.

Max McKinley knows there is a lot of pressure for him to close the deal with the North Sea Valve Company and nothing will stop him from doing so not even the owner’s daughter Pippa McDonnell. pippa is nothing like any woman max has ever met and no matter how hard he tries keep things between them professional he just can’t seem to keep his hands off her. Max knows he’s in Scotland to close a deal but he might have also lost his heart to a Scottish lass.

I struggle so much with this series. I wasn’t a big fan of book three so I was apprehensive going into book four but was excited to get Pippa’s story. I found the first part of this book very slow and predictable. There were a few different times when I put it down and didn’t think I would be able to finish it. About halfway through things changed and the book seemed to come to life and I found that I now could not put it down.

I really liked Pippa from start to finish but Max was a lot harder to enjoy. There was something about him that rubbed me the wrong way and so many times I was yelling at him to stop being stupid. I do feel that when my feelings for the book changed so did my feelings for Max. He seemed to turn into a different person, one I really liked. Add in all of the side stories and crazy quilting ladies and I couldn’t believe how much I liked this book. I actually think that the side stories we better than Pippa and Max’s to be honest.

All in all this book was good. I am starting to really like this series and the people of Gandiegow are really starting to grow on me. If you can get through the first part of the book it will be worth it.

Another fun read set in the fictional village of Gandiegow, Scotland during the holiday season. The loveable, meddling quilters of Gandiegow & other villagers are once again up to their usual antics.

I hate to say it, especially as much as I love this series, but this might be my least favorite in the series. It was hilarious and a fun read but I just couldn't really make myself like Pippa. To me she seemed very childish. She has always known that she never wanted to marry Ross, but instead of telling everyone, most importantly her father, she moves to the city, or tells them to let her and Ross figure it out, that is when she decides to address the issue. The entire book would be a lot shorter if she would have just said that she didn't want to marry Ross. Also if she would have actually spent time trying to finalize the deal, the one that she needed so badly, instead of wasting time then the book would be a lot shorter and the ending wouldn't have felt rushed. I understand why she did it but it just seemed to drag a bit.

Right off the bat, this book was not my cup of tea at all. I had a difficult time getting into the characters and there were many times where I wanted to yell at them through the book for different reasons. There seem to be so much miscommunication which was driving me a bit up the wall. However, it did have some good parts, like the Scottish Men auction and how the characters were messing with each other on all levels. The ending was really sweet which helped me like a bit more in the liking department.

Thought this would be a cozy bit of fun, but instead was disappointed by the distaseful druggings, bachelor auctions, and stupidity of the romance. On the plus side, no character was all good or all bad, and there was a nice secondary chapter, an older lady, who finds love, a backbone, and self-actualization.

Book four in the Kilts and Quilts series: Max comes to Scotland to close a deal with Alistair to buy his father’s machinist factory and its life-saving oil rig valve shutoff patent. But when Alistair turns out to be a fiery Scottish lass with an engineering doctorate, Max finds his allegiances shifting as he loses his heart to Alistair “Pippa” McDonnell.

Yes, it’s as good as it sounds! I loved this one with it great characters and dialogue.
