I've never read an anthology of journalistic essays before, and this book was informative, heart-wrenching, and well written. I can't believe the bravery of the women in the book, as well as the bravery of the citizens in the countries on which they were reporting. The essays themselves were beautiful and hopeful, and gave me so much respect for a profession I'd never thought much about. Hopefully this book will be a jumping off point for me in terms of reading more about the Arab world.

Our Women on the Ground is an impactful and emotional essay collection highlighting the experiences of Arab women journalists. The first-hand accounts brought a lot to the book—the contributors’ willingness to share their stories so honestly is very impactful. Their voices portray a robust Arab world and the complexity of women’s experiences.

a bit repetitive at times, but for good reason. an excellent collection of essays from women who are journalists in the middle east.
