got about 25% before i called it. nothing happening, writing stilted. i’m sure the mystery picks up but i didn’t care enough to see it through.

i give it 2.5 stars in my mind but Goodreads won't let me. i've wondered what to write about it that might be constructive or illustrative and what it boils down to is for me the book lacked focus. there was too much detailed information about too many things too many times. the plot was decent enough to suspect more was going on and wonder what it might be, but ultimately it felt like wandering around. i don't like to give books bad reviews, it takes a lot of time and effort to build a story. this one missed the mark and i wish it hadn't.

I would rate this about a 3.5. It just seems to wander at times. The story is pretty good and interesting but it just lacks a good flow.

Although well written, I would have enjoyed this debut more if it was faster paced and not quite so lengthy. There were plenty of twists and surprises, but I struggled to stay engaged.

I really enjoyed this one with it being set in Ontario and referring to actual towns & cities. I did see the final twist coming but I still really enjoyed some of the other twists that happened. I will say if you have triggers to look up the warnings first on this one - it has a little bit of everything in it so may not be suitable for all readers.
