Theory of Resonance is the perfect addition to the Immortal World Series. We get everything here: vampires, shape-shifters, fae and so much more. Each book builds on the world and expands into new territories.

In this book we follow Errin and Bree.
Bree doesn't believe in the fantastic and she's completely content with getting A's on all her coursework and going home to snuggle with her cat Archi. But Errin, aka, the fantastic, is a little too interesting for her to ignore.

I absolutely adore the relationships that are formed in this book. There are so many science jokes that had me cracking up. Every time the pair were apart I just found myself speed-reading until the next scene they were together. Because they were GOLD together.

Shannon does a wonderful job mixing the right amount of action with romance. And that will always keep me reading her books.

I'm able to do this review thanks to the author sending me an ARC

I'm not one who easily enjoys a book involving vampires and werewolves. I find they tend to be overdone, and not necessarily properly done. However, I found myself enjoying this book far more than I anticipated. I read the first book in The Immortal World Series prior to reading this one (also sent to me by the author) and I was still blown away by the writing in this one. Shannon has improved quite a bit since she started this series--what with the beautiful, atmospheric prose and the romance that keeps your heart pumping despite its slow-burn development.

The vampires and werewolves are given a new life within it, too. They don't feel like the typical creatures of night and moon with the new perspective given to their abilities along with the conflict between the two groups. This is all added on by the fact that they live among and interact with creatures others don't often explore. At least, not typically in conjunction with the classic monsters.

As for the main characters, Errin and Bree, they're lovable cinnamon rolls that manage to fit quite well into this fantastical world. Bree is your typical "facts above all" medical student who is thrusted into a whole new world (an Immortal World *winks*) that she needs to come to terms with. I quite enjoyed that journey of hers for it's different from other characters I've read that go through the same thing, and there's quite a few comical moments that come from it. In Errin's case, he's a very interesting case of human-turned-vampire that I believe many will appreciate. He stands out from the stereotypical violent and/or sparkly vampire characters we're usually given. His struggle to balance his human and immortal sides are a major point of conflict, as well, that leaves you feeling for the guy.

Also, they're both science nerds, which I think makes their entire romance all the more adorable.

I loved reading Theory of Resonance, and it has left me excited to pick up the rest of The Immortal World Series. I know I'll be keeping my eye out for future installments of it as well as anything else Shannon decides to publish. It's a unique universe full of its own interesting characters that leaves you wanting more.

Hiner has outdone herself again with her lush, evocative descriptions and slow-burn romance. Brainy science student Bree meets the man of her dreams (a true gentleman with a compassionate nature and zest for learning) at night class only to learn he’s already earned a medical degree and is daylight challenged. What’s a girl to do?

Fabulous addition to Hiner’s Immortals Series.
