I finally finally finally finished this book. I am so glad and I know my library is really glad that I’m going to bring it back finally! Lol!
It’s just something about short story collections or essay collections that really really take me a long time to read! Anyway…
I really enjoyed this book. Phoebe Robinson tackled some serious topics mixed in with a lot of humor, a lot of great analysis, and I feel up to speed on all the latest millennial jargon! (I feel so outdated writing that like that,

Phoebe Robinson is hilarious. She kept me laughing throughout. Just what I needed to lighten my mood in otherwise stressful times. I appreciated her relatable stories.

2.5/5 — personally struggled to finish this. I think it would’ve been more engaging as an audiobook as I wasn’t as on board with the writing style — it was written as one would talk with lots of slang, quick jokes, abbreviations, and sidebars which made it hard for me to follow most of the time. The short essays were interesting to read but it was hard to find “the point” in a couple of them since they felt drawn out.

Captures her podcast voice in writing, which isn't always easy to do. At times, I kind of thought she could have edited some of the essays down ... but then found I liked how discursive they were. Overall a fun and thoughtful read.

Probably 3.5- though the essays on being child free, race, and hair were solid 4.5s.

A funny and highly relatable collection of essays by comedian and #bossbabe Phoebe Robinson. She covers a wide range of topics from pandemic life, being childfree by choice, interracial dating, being your own boss, self-care and mental health, being Black in America, Black hair care and the right way to be an ally, to name but a few.
Excellent on audio read by the author and full of pop culture references. This was a great read that is sure to have something everyone can take away from the experience. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy! Recommended for fans of Samantha Irby, Issa Rae or Tiffany Haddish.

I really recommend the audiobook - Phoebe is hilarious, brilliant and thoughtful. I found myself talking back in agreement to the book and constantly laughing (very hard) out loud.
