WOW!

This was one of the best bully romances I’ve read this year. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC to review and oh my heavens!

The ways MCG writes these characters and how their story unfolds throughout the book is brilliant.

Abigail Crowne and Theo Hound are my new OTP for 2019. The angst, lies, betrayal is outstanding and I need the next book in the series!

I don’t think there was anything I liked about this book. The people are awful, the plot was predictable, and I didn’t like the main characters.

Abigail and Theo stopped talking to each other a few years ago (I think) and now they have to because Theo is her bodyguard. From the description I expected a bit of a different story and different dynamics. Everyone in Abigail’s life hates or is indifferent towards her, so every now and then she acts out, although sometimes things would happen accidentally and when someone would chastise her, she would make it worse. Abigail’s mother makes a decision and orders Theo back into their lives so that he can make sure that Abigail doesn’t create more scandals. For about 60% of this book, Theo is cruel and hates Abigail then they find something out and their relationship does a 180. After that I didn’t like or understand their decisions.

I didn’t trust any of Abigail and Theo’s interactions because they would act serious and then in the next second, they would be playing games, so I never knew what actually made their relationship develop.

When eventually they admitted their feelings, I didn’t understand why they even bothered trying to have a relationship when there was no way Abigail would ever go against her mother.

I hated what Theo does at the end, and he didn’t even seem to realise that he did the exact same thing as what someone he hates did.

All the people in this book were toxic and horrible. Abigail’s family hate her, but at the end they show the tiniest bit of understanding/friendliness and suddenly everything they’ve done is okay?

When it comes to the plot, I think most of it was predictable.
That Abigail and Theo’s conflict from the past was a misunderstanding, the gold roses guy was her fiancé, that Theo’s mother turned out to be someone important, and Theo sacrificing himself for Abigail – which didn’t work anyway.

I definitely don’t care about reading the other Crowne’s books so I’m not continuing this series.

OMG

So the first 25-30% had me wondering what the hype was about but then I got hit with all the intense emotions of these characters. Can’t wait for more. Loved it!

This was intense! I love antiheroes, but in the beginning Theo was a bit too much for me. He was beyond cruel, destroying the few good things Abigail had in her life. I often wanted to slap him and make him see what he was doing to the woman he obviously loved. Abigail was a tough cookie, though, and she didn't allow herself to be broken. I admired her for that.

Now, the Crownes really got me interested. Talk about a fucked-up family! I shall see how everything goes with them.

I was Abigail Crowne, fire starter, attention seeker, scandal maker. The Reject Princess. Unloved, uncared for, unwanted. There was only one way to dethrone a princess. As mom said, you don’t get to stay a princess and marry a pauper, and a Crowne without a castle is just a hunk of metal.

I know everyone loves a good enemies to friends then friends to lovers and then lovers to enemies and then enemies back to lovers. Lol this book has IT ALL! I started this book last night and had to finish it today! It’s so good! I love Theo... I mean doesn’t every girl love a guy who’s kinda douchey but also really hot but also like really sweet too.

Idk guys. I'm conflicted about this one. I really did enjoy a lot about this! It was addicting right from the beginning, Theo & Abigail had great chemistry, and it definitely was entertaining from start to finish. I really cared about what happened. HOWEVER. This book kind of made me realize dark romance just might not be my genre. (Unless it's the bully trope hehe..which this did have! But for like 2 seconds.) I just often find it a little ridiculous and annoying and I just don't connect to it. I love a lot of angst & tension but sometimes dark romance just feels so..Petty Drama to me and it just doesn't work for me. I'm not giving up, though. I did enjoy this and I REALLY want to read the rest of this series for Gray's story but...I'm just a little nervous that I'm just not a dark romance enjoyer!

Beginning this book was very fun. It was a new story and I love a new love story. Abigail is a drama magnet. Its wild. Most of it isn't her fault. I don't understand her siblings at all, or her Mother. It explains how the family is dysfunctional but wow they totally suck. Lol just horrible. Idk how one could stay in that family. The audacity. I loved the drama though. Poor Abigail. Poor Theo. Sad. I teared up more than I expected in this book. Alot and I mean alot of ups and downs. The twisty character in this book was mysterious at first but it came clear he would be important and sadly it got a bit slow but at the same time I was very fast paced. Idk lol All around I enjoyed this book too much. I read it pretty fast, and stayed up way past midnight, then woke up around 4am and continued reading it!
