this is a short story, in which Flavia is summoned to solve a mystery and does so. she is able to demonstrate her breadth of knowledge, interpersonal wit, and deductive reasoning within like 10 pages. this probably would not be much of a read for someone who is unfamiliar with the character, but I enjoyed it quite a bit!

Flavia de Luce is one of my favorite characters in contemporary fiction, but unless readers are familiar with the series by Alan Bradley, this short story is not a good introduction. For those of us who already love Flavia, this was a very satisfying read.

Another fantastic entry into the Flavia de Luce series! Too short, but very fun. I can't get enough of Miss Flavia!

kinda short.

Even though I knew it was a short story, I wasn't too thrilled because it lacked the excitement I was expecting. It was a straight threw story, no mystery it went from crime to ending with little in the middle to work up to the conclusion.

Probably 3.5 stars. In comparison to Alan Bradley's longer works, it reminded me of the style of the Sherlock Holmes short stories. Very short, quick resolution, but entertaining.

Well, I am disappointed that it was only available as an e-book, but thankfully my public library has an app that allows one to read it on your browser so not having an e-book reader did not impede my being able to read it.
I have enjoyed all of Alan Bradley's book. This was a good mystery with plenty of red herrings but way to short. I know it didn't really need to be expanded upon but I really would have enjoyed more of the tale. The resolution could have been drawn out a bit in my opinion.
