This was a brilliant novel, full of interesting characters and lots of moving parts, along with some really lively prose. I had to find out how it ended but I also didn’t want it to be over, which is always a wonderful problem to have with a book. I honestly liked it better than Life After Life, which I adored.

A beautifully written bad book. A mostly clever way of writing. It was fun to to see how the author writes.
BUT
Way too many uninteresting characters mixed with a mostly negative view of London. Cherry on the cake, I think I’ve never seen an ending so bad for each of the many characters. It almost felt like a joke.

The book lacked action, the characters were badly tied together, the ending of each story was botched.

No idea. Seems very confused with lazy ending.
For own memory
two girls go to London, one possibly dies one possibly returns home, librarian goes to find them possibly ends up with son of bar owner, policeman gets hanged don’t think was guilty of that specific crime but was a bad egg

Ever stayed up until 3 AM reading a book on a weeknight? I loved this novel. If you read it, let’s chat. The audiobook was superb
